Chiropractic Adjustments

What is an adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment, or spinal manipulation, is a non-invasive procedure that aims to improve spinal function and alleviate physical discomfort.

During the adjustment, Dr. Meier will apply controlled pressure to specific areas of the spine, helping to restore mobility, reduce nerve irritability, and improve overall function.

Many individuals seek chiropractic adjustments to address issues such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Our team is dedicated to ensuring that each adjustment is tailored to the unique needs of our patients, promoting optimal wellness and a balanced body.

What is happening during
the adjustment?

During a chiropractic adjustment, a brief and quick thrust is applied to a specific vertebra, resulting in a gas release known as joint cavitation. This often leads to a relieving sensation for the patient. It’s important to note that during chiropractic care, minor discomfort may occur if muscles are tense or in spasm. Dr. Meier will ensure that the adjustment is performed with precision and care to promote spinal function and alleviate any physical discomfort you may be experiencing.

The three phases of our
treatment process

Pain Relief

When patients visit us, it’s usually because they are experiencing pain or discomfort. If you have aches, pains, and/or decreased range of motion, our licensed chiropractor will identify the source of the issue and work to eliminate joint restrictions, also known as subluxations, which can interfere with proper nerve communication from the brain to the body, often resulting in pain and discomfort.

Stabilization

Once we have worked to eliminate joint restrictions, your pain and discomfort will subside, and you’ll move to the next phase of treatment – Stabilization. Just because pain and discomfort begin to subside doesn’t mean you should stop receiving care. Muscle and other soft tissue damage may still be present even though the symptoms of pain are gone. Recovery care works to support the body’s ability to heal itself by maintaining proper communication throughout the entire body.

Wellness

Once the illness is stabilized, you move to the third phase of treatment, Wellness. Even when you are not experiencing pain or discomfort, you can benefit from routine care. While routine chiropractic can help improve health and well-being, it can also serve as an early detection system for new problems.

Once you’ve found relief and have fully recovered, your doctor will typically recommend maintenance visits along with a balanced diet and exercise regimen.
